Flue & Chimney Repairs

chimney lining for wood burning stoves

Having your flue checked regularly is vital!

All appliances that use gas, oil wood or smokeless fuels all produce Carbon Monoxide. It can be potentially fatal and even low levels of the poison can cause lasting damage to your health which is why it is vital that you take the correct measures to ensure your chimney is safe. Of course there can be obvious signs that a chimney repair is required such as excessive soot, debris falling, fumes, problems with the fire drawing poorly and overheating chimney walls. The inside of the chimney with age and use can become corroded and then there becomes a risk of carbon monoxide leaking into your home.

Thermocrete have been established for over 40 years and we have carried out thousands of chimney repairs & flue lining installations on properties across the UK.

Our Chimney Repair Services include:

Creosote Treatment

Tarred chimneys are the most common cause of chimney fires. Using Thermocrete’s Creosote Removal Treatment will enable the chimney to be used again and minimise the risk of fire.

  • The chimney will initially be swept from the top with specialist sweep brushes
  • Specialised chemicals are then sprayed onto the internal surfaces of the chimney
  • The chemicals are left to react with the creosote for a minimum of seven days
  • After the chemical reaction is complete the residue is removed
  • The chimney is then tested
  • If any further problems become apparent, this will be reported and any remedial works required will be advised.

Chimney CCTV Surveys

Our CCTV Chimney Surveys are carried out using an advanced and accurate camera systems to diagnose your chimney problems.
This can be done quickly and efficiently so we can resolve them with the best and most appropriate solution. In order to locate issues, colour CCTV cameras are passed up and down the flue to give a highly accurate picture of the problems. From here we can establish the course of action that needs to be taken in order for you to continue to use your chimney safely.

Corroded Chimney Repairs/Falling Debris from your Chimney

If you’ve noticed debris falling into your fireplace, it is likely your chimney flue could be starting to corrode and deteriorate.
As the internal render falls away, gaps will occur between the bricks potentially releasing dangerous gases and allowing smoke to escape from the flue and into areas of the building and neighbouring properties.
At Thermocrete we provide a chimney assessment and then should the inside of your chimney be in a state of deterioration we would repair your chimney and apply an application of Thermocrete Sealant to protect your chimney from this deterioration. Our engineers will clean the flue, renovate the brickwork with a thick, protective Thermocrete ceramic sealant, thus protecting your chimneys for many more years to come.

Insurance Reports

Some Insurance companies will no longer pay out for chimney fire damage unless the flue has been swept and maintained by a professional chimney sweep who can issue a valid certificate of sweeping recognised by the insurance companies themselves. Guild sweeps are required to issue these certificates for every chimney cleaned. Contact us to arrange an Insurance Report for your Chimney.
